All of these book will help you to learn more about your problems and ways in which they can be overcome. However, those who have been suffering for an extended period of time may need additional support in the form of counselling in order to resolve their difficulties.

Easy to read and covers a range of problems from anxiety and  depression to relationship and sleep problems. 

 

Mind Over Mood: A Cognitive Therapy Treatment Manual for Clients. Greenberger, D., & Padesky, C. (1995).

The best introduction to CBT to those who are new to it.

Reinventing Your Life (1993). Young, J. E. & Klosko, J. S.

A self help book with addressing more entrenched patterns and problems. It is recommended that this is read whilst you undertaking a course of counselling.

 

Eating Disorders

Overcoming Binge Eating (1995). Fairburn, C.

A CBT guided self-help book for those suffering from symptoms of Bulimia Nervosa.

Getting better bit(e) by bit(e) (1993). Schmidt, U. & Treasure, J.

Anorexia Nervosa, A Survival Guide for Families and Friends and Sufferers (1997).

Helps both those with Anorexia and their families to understand more about the problems and start to work towards making some changes.
